Survivors' Guide for Bone Marrow/Stem Cell Transplant Planning to Go Home It is a good idea to prepare for your return home before leaving the hospital. This may entail organizing to have someone help you take care of your pet for the first 100 days post-transplant, organizing to have your house well-cleaned before you return, or arranging for a housecleaner to come in to clean the house at regular intervals until you can resume such activities. Getting family and friends to help with your return home can make the transition easier and smoother for you. When I was at the hospital, all I could focus on was taking it one day at a time. Fortunately, my family prepared for my arrival by thoroughly cleaning the house and distributing various chores among friends and family so that no one would be too overburdened. |
