BMT Survivor Designs
Holiday Card for nbmtLink
The nbmtLink has produced a beautiful holiday card
to raise additional funds and expand organizational
visibility. The new card has an original poinsettia quilt
design, created by Victoria Bartling.
Bartling, a BMT patient, is a pediatric audiologist
who lives near Philadelphia. Quilting and sewing are
her passions and she did needle work, including
embroidery and quilts, during her treatment for
leukemia. Bartling describes the wall-hanging quilts
she made during that time as narrative--reflecting her
thoughts during her illness. The quilts communicated
her feeling that "All will be well" while undergoing
the difficult BMT.
Bartling's design incorporates her trademark small
squares in a red and green poinsettia. nbmtLink Executive Director Myra Jacobs
suggested the poinsettia to represent new life, very
appropriate for Bartling, who says she has completed
a two-year recovery and is now cured.
